What We Do

Community Training Initiative

The Community Training Initiative (CTI) hires subject-matter experts to provide rural communities with crucial training in agriculture, livestock, savings/loans, small businesses and healthcare; areas the majority of people in rural villages have limited access to best practices and resources in. We believe in building upon assets and talents currently found in the communities where we serve. We focus all agriculture and livestock trainings on vegetation and animals presently found in the community. The program is designed to take place in each community for five years. Over the five years, Love Empowers trainings focus on in-class time, hands-on demonstrations and several sessions of monitoring and evaluation to help troubleshoot any implementation issues community members may face. The last two years of the program focus solely on train-the-trainer courses so that committed trainees are equipped to continue trainings for fellow community members after Love Empowers has left.

Educational Support

In Uganda, most children can attend local government primary schools because fees are relatively low—around $8–$20 per term (with three terms per year). However, when children reach secondary school, the cost rises sharply to $80 or more per term. For families in our village, where the average income is less than $100 per month, this steep increase makes secondary education out of reach.

That’s why Love Empowers focuses on supporting secondary school students. We believe every child deserves the chance to complete their education, not just begin it.

It’s also important to note that the village where we provide educational support is different from the villages where we run our training programs—allowing us to reach and impact more communities in meaningful ways.
